I have his "Civilization and Capitalism" trilogy, too. Never wound up working on that period, though, so they have sat unread for a quarter century.

I really have no idea what's going on these days since I've been out of academia since I graduated. And the stuff I'm interested in these days has little and often nothing to do with what I studied, at least formally.
Same for me. I think what I do is a continuation of the "project" I began 20 years ago, but the subject matter is different. And I cover all kinds of things. I'd say I'm still an academic, as are you, but not in the way most people would think

I still bring an academic approach to things, but those things aren't what I was trained to be an academic on.
