The Annales School is not my cup of tea.
Quentin Skinner / JGA Pocock (who I met, and who is still alive, amazingly) were my the sources of my methodology, but we got a fair dose of the Annales school as well. Foucault and his epigones were off limits, per my advisor, though I enjoyed that guy's work, for what it was

I've met Skinner. I don't think I've met Pocock. I have issues with the Cambridge School, but I do find it much more congenial. I am not a fan of Foucault, though maybe I ought to give him a second chance now that he's not being forced down my throat in grad school.

Coming at it from a legal background, texts and contexts -- esp. Skinner showing off his mastery of all kinds of obscure but related sources -- at least made some sense. Not that it really informs my work, but it was my chosen methodology field.
