We don't have universal health care, paid sick leave, wage growth tied to productivity gains & basic workplace protections because the U.S. unlike other industrialized countries has a political system completely dominated by radical big business trade groups.

There's such a complete disconnect on the American left and many journalists who obsess over minor alt-right trolls or exaggerate other fringe groups, when the vast majority of Americans suffer needlessly because of the influence of big business groups that operate in the open.

It's easy to report and personalize those inconsequential stories, and they drive engagement on here. Reporting big stories takes time and $, but these folks walk nonstop on a content mill water wheel. Trump, mean tweets, and meaningless issues that get social media traction

I see there are people here saying otherwise, but I came from academia and have spent years selling and watching how these stories sell. The journalists responding to this tweet with "well actually" are defensive about their own "contributions" to this kind of "doing the work"
