the justin trudeau situation is troubling. world leaders and national politicians travel a great deal, so COVID-19 is surely going to start snagging some major players. the big question is: how destabilizing would such a "reveal" be to countries in the throes of disease anxiety?

trudeau, if he's "positive" and this isn't being disclosed for some reason, would likely recover, but the impact of the disclosure, or the impact of attempts to conceal a diagnosis, might be significant. and yet all major powers have an interest in concealing this info

in other words, if all the world leaders were sick, or a few were, that's one thing. but the first head of state to get sick...that's a major psychological shock, going beyond tom hanks and e. mudiay and r. gobert. so of course you'd conceal it

or, let's say a world leader steps forward and promises to be totally transparent, discussing how they will "fight" COVID-19. never mind that each patient's health makeup is different. imagine the impact of this one person losing that fight, even if it's unlikely most others will

It's an ethics dilemma. Disclosure might cause more infighting, power moves from opposition, and instability. I value transparency, but this might challenge my stance.
