Pro brand moves: back in 2016, I interviewed an author and reviewed his book for a semi-major publication. This dude followed me on twitter from the date the publicist set up the interview to the day after he had tweeted out my review. Today I was sent a new book of his to review
You love to see it. That's the Work. That's the Tea. I'm Here for It. Life as pure cynical brand moves. I'd be surprised if he made much more money off the book than I did off a few months of articles. But he turned up. He's on his grind. Here's to a Real One

He was one of the #HillaryMen too. Very self-important, doing work that was essentially "piffle" or perhaps "pablum." So toothless that every sentence he wrote was like a "gumdrop," if you will
At any rate, I like when you interview "authors" or other celebrities who can't possibly believe you do or have done what they do. At most you're a "hack" or "amaneusis" who gives shape to their perfect message to the world
Wonder if he made as much as Berlatsky makes off his books.
Possibly not given all the overhead and not earning out the advance, but who can say?
