I genuinely feel bad for people like this. I remember when my dad was in a dying body and I asked how he was and he was like "I'm dying here!" in an Al Pacino shout

He also told me at the end of it all, having once been in an incredibly strong body but now being reduced to a dying one, that it was ok because who cared, he was 74, he'd shit on the rubber sheets if he wanted to. "I'm not running wind sprints to get ready for the Olympics"

He'd also done the work of destigmatizing "fat" and "trans" stuff in his own family in such an odd way that when I saw these were even social media issues, or real world issues, I was shocked, so tight was the weird bubble he'd erected around his views. Bluto in drag was a-ok...

He had convinced his kids that views that today are endlessly repeated by "progressives" were somehow part of the insane-yet-conservative worldview he developed. Not only was being big and heavy good for all, it wasn't even open to debate or discussion
