My favorite college teachers were the ones whose most notable accomplishments were working overtime to get some lazy undergrads suspended or expelled for the weakest and most insignificant instances of plagiarism

there’s even a type of person for whom it’s a carnal sin to format a citation incorrectly but fabricating a narrative from whole cloth is a minor infraction.
Especially if that narrative suits a particular worldview they're championing or invested in. If it isn't, let justice be done even if the heavens fall, and devil take the hindmost
