Oh, they just want to be able to "keep" the beloved characters for themselves, and not "cancel" them because Rowling is Problematic in various ways. I've never read any of it and assumed the author of such a series might be Problematic, though not for the same reasons

Aye ya, as they say in Peru. Why don't they just do what they want and not worry about those who want to "cancel" both author and books? I can't imagine that there's money to be made justifying such a decision or one side will be convinced by arguments from the other.
