Harry Potter. I missed that, and my son read a few pages and wasn't interested. (He did read all, I think, 5 Dan Brown novels starring the guy Tom Hanks played in the adaptation of the Da Vinci Code.) "Own"? Unless royalties are involved, I don't think it matters, right?

Oh, they just want to be able to "keep" the beloved characters for themselves, and not "cancel" them because Rowling is Problematic in various ways. I've never read any of it and assumed the author of such a series might be Problematic, though not for the same reasons
