he was fond of certain phrases or "bits," almost like "cut-up" routines written by william burroughs. people who met him saw him as some bukowski-esque figure, because there was a physical resemblance, but he had read naked lunch back in college when that was "cool"

My father, I believe, actually never read a book in his life. And I'll tell you, "third eye and a 6TH sense" or "MAN IN THE MIRROR and looking out for ##1……not #101…." are not things he would ever say. Although, South Park mocked him, and that give me a killer opening bit.
