That’s what they call a little “gallows humor.” My dad used to say that only two things of note would happen each day, and neither were good: you’d either die or you wouldn’t. It’s bleaker because he’s dead!

Here I was thinking that all those weird forwarded joke messages were a thing of the past and it’s really just that my dad’s been dead for five years. Really just that. Get it? He’s dead, you see, so now I don’t get the forwards on account of him not being alive. Ha ha ha.
