and the US has in fact recognized other genocides and atrocities (including slavery, which Omar mentions.) human history is filled with atrocities, but this one in particular has been denied as a way to preserve Turkish moral authority for over a hundred years now.
I don’t disagree, but I can see why Omar might have chosen to do this. Attacking Israel but pulling back on Turkey may also be something she thinks some of her supporters will appreciate. It’s an odd political decision to me, but a political decision nevertheless

it doesn't really make sense from that perspective; Israel has supported Armenian genocide denial in the past as a way to cement the alliance with Turkey. Also she's being almost universally condemned, so doesn't seem to have helped her politically.

I get it, but there’s something about this that fits her brand. It’s strange, but you’ll see them double down on unusual denials or ride strange hobbyhorses all the time. Voting against a resolution, of all things, is a curious political decision by itself
