That’s a terrible stance to take. Voting to recognize this genocide now doesn’t mean other crimes can’t be recognized later, they’re not taken off the table. Actually, voting to recognize this makes it easier to recognize those crimes as we expand the language of genocide.
and the US has in fact recognized other genocides and atrocities (including slavery, which Omar mentions.) human history is filled with atrocities, but this one in particular has been denied as a way to preserve Turkish moral authority for over a hundred years now.
