If people are making it work, awesome (I’m not familiar with that venue, but I didn’t think Your Tango paid well). For my part, I couldn’t do it without a partner, and it can still be a struggle.
It doesn't pay well (two figures I believe, not three) but it pays something. The GMP had some agreement to pay by the click that I signed, but during my time with them it paid absolutely nothing, zero, zilch
I'm doing well nowadays, but I also have a full time corporate gig, which gave me the freedom to hunt down much better rates, turn down bad or dumb work, and turn away from chasing the takes. My anxiety would never let me go back into full time freelance
