I remember this no-drinking nonsense was attempted with wrestling practice, but having the dad I had — a man who refused to abide by that even in the 50s at WVU — I simply brought my own stuff and drank and went to the bathroom when I wanted.
As my dad had told my brother before me, if our coaches (who were both 140 or so pounds) had a problem with it, they could try to enforce their will on us, and by the time we were 14 that wasn’t happening
