Great article. My own take is that AEW is going to use it but not overuse it. They've hired at least three noted "deathmatch" wrestlers, but they've also hired a lot of much more straightforward technical wrestlers.

I hope that's the case. It gives the fans a bit more variety in terms of the product, and big-budget blood will attract some viewers.

Plus there's more than one way to have a blood and guts match. Minoru Suzuki rarely bleeds or makes other people bleed, but his New Japan matches are more intensely physical than anything I've seen a hardcore wrestler do.
