my dad would be telling me to eat every meal like it's my last supper and my mom would be cooking dinner and tomorrow's breakfast while i was eating today's lunch, so having a "normal" diet was not an option

i remember eating many back to back "lunch-and-dinners" so that my mom could get all the dishes washed by 2 p.m. and we could get an early start on the next day

meanwhile, my dad was able to get me to eat pretty much anything at an early age by saying "just take a bite of that and imagine it's the last bite you're ever going to take, because it could be"

Man, chicken fried pancakes...syrup, either real or fake...some kind of breakfast meat as a side. That might not be a ticket to a long life, but that's living. The Greek diner per capita number is quite high in Indiana as I recall from living in Valparaiso during the mid oughts
