the "swarthy child" story was a silly example of this, but just-so storytelling about individual but unnamed bad actors (unverifiable of course!) to build the social media brand is a fascinating phenomenon of these times. it's as far from shaming the structure as you can get
explaining how bad actors are enabled by a structure that invites bad acts isn't nearly as fun as blasting a hypothetical "becky" or "chad" or some other toxic, gaslit, etc. character that's likely to confirm our suspicions about such stereotypes
i thought it was merely a weird form of calling pretend HR on a nonexistent person until i saw a weird social media tale, intended to make a particular yuppie seem virtuous, play out locally. the story was utter nonsense, since i knew the real deal, but it was sorta viral
