Yeah, I had to reevaluate the question before I could answer. Does it mean MOST softballinest (Fallon), or best interviewer who happens to softball (Gross)
as @MUGGER1955 pointed out, Gross doesn't really ask specific questions so much as just talk in vague, open-ended questions. Fallon really just lobs meatballs down the middle. And I omitted folks like Katie Couric and that dude who interviewed Wacko Jacko back in the day

Someone once pointed out to me, long ago, that Lesley Stahl throws the biggest softballs of anyone on TV. But it's easy to miss because she always has a serious, concerned look on her face.

Yeah, a lot of those 60 Minutes people are secretly real pushovers, but the format helps lend them gravitas
