the thing i don't miss about academia is telling people, especially non-specialists, that I "work on X subject" and then they immediately recommend a bunch of books I've either read or know about and have no intention of reading
in terms of stuff that isn't autobiographies there simply isn't much that covers material...your book is actually a comprehensive history of "combat performance" in some ways, as close to it as we've got out there

I only see all the things wrong with it. But it's always cool to hear someone read it. Or incorporated it into their work. Or annotated it to death. Whatever the case may be.
