I suspect you're right.
Thus if you experience news media this way, you tend to think whatever is being highlighted in the moment is weirdly ubiquitous...she does this with everything, like arguing there were more seniors in the US when the Golden Girls aired, etc.

Whatever the spotlight is shone upon becomes reality. I remember having debates with those who watched The Newsroom episode where Glass-Steagle was highlighted.
