hard to say, but given the lobbying power of big business, it's much more likely the wage stays low at the federal level rather than more or less increasing with worker productivity, etc., as it did from 1948 to 1968

additionally, the case for paying a "prevailing wage" in the trades has had some documented benefits for workers in those trades, as well as to employers required to pay those wages https://books.google.com/books?id=_kQMRA9xxLoC&printsec=frontcover&dq=The+Economics+of+Prevailing+Wage+Laws&source=bl&ots=6EmUHAk5gh&sig=4-LJeXdjOfmXVoC8urKlFgSTjaI&hl=en&ei=oN_4TKHBDIiosAOS44DCAg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CBoQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q&f=false …

also the need for a federal minimum wage that's sufficiently high is in part due to the need to break regional, largely rural monopsonies that keep wages artificially low; concentration in certain sectors is hitting record levels https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3133344 …
