I don’t even care what they’re apologizing for. Any bad tweet or stray remark could temporarily torpedo their prospects or force them to turn Republican to keep the checks coming

The main way I consume celebrity content nowadays is by reading their apologies for various breaches of etiquette. Part of me really enjoys the fact that these near-rich demigods have careers subject to termination or exile at a moment’s notice

Except their careers aren't in danger. Kevin Hart had a $25 million box office opening two weeks after he was "canceled." Twitter is not real life.

That’s true. Most of this stuff is entirely “for the takes” and “for the tweets.” Many celebrities totally ignored by the Twitterverse just rake it in. And the ones on apology tours get a little extra brand boost
