As long as I keep writing 4-8 freelance stories for outlets that pay on time, I will never get around to any longer-term projects. Totally cool with that

Writing a mass-market book or some other creative thing seems about as worthwhile as really juicing up to bench 550-600 pounds...at the end of the day, I’d get maybe a few more polite nods and “bless your hearts” but my bottom line wouldn’t increase enough to make it worthwhile

Both goals wld be w/in reach if I were willing to make the requisite sacrifices but the gain doesn’t justify the pain. bench is a good example — for years I’ve benched in the same 385-405 range and all I really do is increase the length of the pause on the chest/some other tweak
