Another big part of the "steroids origin myth" is saying "I was strong before I got into steroids, already benching 500 pounds." Never 400, although that's believable, but 500. For these admitted users, who are still more admirable than those who stay mum, they were always yuge
This ties into the bizarre "genetic freak" descriptors frequently appended to heavy-duty steroid users (who, as I've said previously, are genetic freaks only if their bodies are tolerating heavy steroid doses without water retention, increasing cholesterol, etc.)
