The content on Twitter would be a lot different if all the posters were postal workers instead of journalists...the sanctity of the "freedom of the mail" would be raised to a level far above the "freedom of the press"

Or perhaps not. Few paychecks are harder to get than a journalism paycheck, so few fields have to promote their value in quite the same way (master plumbers will somehow get lucrative work even if they don't answer their phones).
