Hot take: being on the receiving end of scorn and bullying from jocks has made nerds a bunch of entitled whiners, which justifies scorning and bullying them

This is one of the most fascinating galaxy brained takes of all time, the logical conclusion of a "field of study" that began with an Arthur Chu hot take years earlier

Being the FIRST nerd to throw your nom de plume on this take and throw your fellow nerds under the bus clears the field for you to be the Last Nerd Standing, the Good Nerd willing to tattle on their comrades -- a true "alpha" move

I was relentlessly bullied as a child, and for a time in my late teens your take would've been correct. It wasn't until long after I stopped emulating my harassers that I realized, despite years of my parents telling me so, that they were the ones with the issues.

For the record, it's one of those things you can't be taught, you need life experience to bust you out of the bullied perspective.

All bullying is bad, but it seems impossible not to bully (beyond the obvious physical/name calling stuff). A friend said his well meaning parents bullied him with their niceness and competence

Because they always seemed to do everything right, and were never upset when he came up short, he felt they were condescending and cursed with superiority complexes

There's definitely a generational aspect to it, as well as an individual one. My case is sort of unique, I'm fucking huge (6'9") and my parents were devout Catholics, and I was extremely gullible and self righteous.

I thought it was a "sin" to be aggressive in sports...so you can imagine how fucked I was. LOL

But I agree, bullshitting and ballbusting is part of life, in it's purest form, its a civil way to let our friends know about their shortcomings.
