David Lynch movies are not just terrible but interminable, which is what makes them works of genius: at various points people who ultimately can’t stand how slow paced and dreadful these bizarre slogs are will renew their interest in them, only to abandon them after a few weeks

Really? Terrible? I'll give you slow but they are like paintings. Denis Hopper was right: Lynch is an American surrealist, and I think that if his work approached as a painting, there is actually a better chance of understanding it. I think that one has to let go & enter into it.

Oh, I think they're great, but I think they're deliberately bad, in the way Lynch's own acting is deliberately bad. The greatness comes from somehow forcing people to endure the pacing, w/ a few viewers who appreciate it and many more who think they're supposed to appreciate it
