As a professor, my most controversial position was that I didn't care at all about plagiarism. a) they at least found some material b) it was probably better written than most of what I received c) privileging "originality" is a very bougie and culturally insensitive position

One of my most frustrating moments was when I had a paper zeroed out and was put on academic probation. I was told it was for "self plagiarism". Apparently I made reference to a paper I had written earlier in the semester and did not cite myself. I wish I was making this up.

I mean, a freelancer who has to pay their bills, like me, does this all the time...sentences if not entire paragraphs. I've written the same muscle and wrestling stories a million times, it seems
