I have never had the time or money to chase “that one beautiful sentence” creative nonfiction/literary fiction people allegedly spending months pursuing. I almost never work past a second draft. But my copy arrives on time and my invoices are flawless.

In 1999-2000, it was a real thing, and the various adjuncts at Carolina believed it would lead to "jobs". Who knew? Me, because I didn't return to selling writing until 2012
