I have never had the time or money to chase “that one beautiful sentence” creative nonfiction/literary fiction people allegedly spending months pursuing. I almost never work past a second draft. But my copy arrives on time and my invoices are flawless.

Journalism school in the late 90s / early 00s didn’t train me to chase influence or brand myself, but I did learn to churn out fast, decent copy

I like to work, and if the editor doesn’t catch the typo or second use of a certain word, I doubt anyone else will notice or care. And should it ever get collected, I can fix it in “post”
