A similar thing is done with the interesting Killmonger character, who still does some villainous things...and dies. A true 50/50 split between protagonist and antagonist in re moral merit is somehow possible in even crappy Shonen manga but impossible in US blockbuster movies
I mean, a movie in which Bane kills Batman and that's it, the end, or Killmonger strangles Captain America...that would be cinema that outstrips Battleship Potemkin if it ends on such a mic drop
