The weird and vast condescension behind thinking that all people do things "for the likes" says more about the online creepazoids who believe this than the poor saps who are probably just doing things for the same reasons humans always have, because they're idiots
That said, I love meeting people with a bad case of the twitterbrain, and they're just kind of mumbling and trailing off, real distracted, looking at their mentions the way my cats gaze at a plastic bag they want to lick
