May I just say that this is a wonderfully written, thought-provoking and ultimately moving piece. I write from the UK and, aged 46, recalling the oddly central place that wrestling had when there were but 3 terrestrial TV channels. Thank you.

I was so (happily) surprised to see that but on reflection that’s why I enjoy The Ringer’s writing so much. Myself, I was always a Kendo Nagasaki fan. But those were different times and, looking back, *really* different.
