Rick Reilly's Trump on golf book is getting some play in the media, which pains me because it distracts us from the more pressing fact that Reilly's lazy writing game is much worse than Trump's golf game

With all those "Life of Reilly" essays he did, you could remove entire paragraphs without changing the meaning at all. The pieces had less substance than a "Celebrities, They're Just Like Us" photo insert. He has to be one of the worst writers who ever got paid a full time wage

He’s truly the worst...I remember one column about taking his son to the swimsuit photo shoot. The guy is an untalented douche which is why he’s disappeared for over a decade and with so many media options...he’s essentially MIA.

I'm not sure he even understands a single sport. His pieces are what one might call "sceners" or "dad joke anecdotes" but he doesn't even execute those safe 500-word thumbsuckers in a halfway skillful manner

I read him on the "back page" when I was growing up, and even then, a voice in my hand was like..."Is this journalism? Is this writing? Or is it just typing?"

Voice in my head, that is, as "hand" is rather creepy in this context
