in my brief stint teaching college freshmen and sophomores, i was far too charitable when it came to grading; years later when i taught grad students, i was no bloody different...
i gave them all A grades too, plus glowing (if vague) letters of recommendation. "his enthusiasm is infectious ... he loves to try"
