i cannot even begin to talk about how much i hate the twitterverse, my own role in it included. i look at this feed every night and see capitalism in this weird pure form, all this content given away for nothing in the hopes of...what, exactly? making a few gold coins? good lord

it's like gazing into an abyss in which some of your friends are hustling you for $1 patreon donations and other friends are showing off various "prestigious" bylines (that pay 17 cents/word) and the only people getting rich off this (sort of, i assume) are twitter execs

no one really reads anything, let's be real...so why this obsession with the "writing market?" (those "books of the year" lists are surely a gag; i know the reading habits of some of the people making them, and if they've actually read 500k words in a year, i'll eat my hat)
