Lead did not turn Flint children into idiots. Stop saying so. http://bit.ly/2nPdly3  (via @kdrum)pic.twitter.com/bOc4EIrVIA

There are bigger issues going on in Michigan with the education system. It's been wrecked by Betsy DeVos and her push for charter schools. She's been damaging the Michigan education system for some years. Now she's moved on to the entire US.

I'm actually shocked, and incredibly disappointed, that this article failed to mention this tidbit. Our education system is in shambles across the state! You couldn't even be bothered to do the research?

I didn't mention it because I was writing about lead, not the Michigan education system.

But the two are not exclusive. The drops in learning in Flint are mirroring what is happening across our state BECAUSE of the problems with the education system. It is being blamed on the lead, which is a huge problem. That is bad reporting.

DO YOUR RESEARCH @MotherJones. Grades are down, MASSIVE lead poisoning PERSISTS, some homes STILL have up 833 TIMES the 15 ppb threshold. KIDS are damaged w/NO school support Oh and there's a lawsuit to prove it. Please stop writing lies about Flint. https://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/flint-water-crisis/2017/09/29/judge-flint-water-lawsuit-school-officials/717346001/ …pic.twitter.com/232u7ah0fJ

YOU ARE the only one using the word "idiots" when referring to our children. Speak to our teachers. Do research & take this heap of garbage down. COMPREHENSION skills ARE DOWN. I see it in my own children. Stop writing false stories about Flint. We don't need or deserve this.

Betsy DeVos started her meddling with education systems in Michigan. Our systems are just a foreshadowing of what is to come.

Please don't thank them for shoddy work. The author failed to do research into the problems going on with the education system in Michigan. It would not have been hard considering @MotherJones has done previous articles on it.

Problems with the education system are a different matter that needs serious attention and not only in Flint. However, trying to blame the problems of education on lead is an excuse to do nothing about the education system.

They are the same thing. The drops in scores are due to the issues with the education system. If you don't point that out, how can you point out that the lead in Flint is being used as an excuse? It's poor reporting. We are ignoring a bigger issue by blaming lead.
