“ICE is saying they want to get to 15,000 [detainees] by the end of the summer in Louisiana,” López says, based on what he’s heard from guards and other lawyers. “There’s an intentional, purposeful approach behind this of putting people where they can’t access counsel.”

At $750 per day, 15,000 detainees would cost $11.25 million PER DAY. Why are we spending this money when we could release them to family already here, and let them pay their own way? Who is profiting here and what does Trump himself gain? And this is just ONE state.

It’s not clear where ICE is getting the money to go against Congress, but it is clear who is making money from the cruelty of locking up aslyum seekers. Again, thanks to the free press

“and there are no immigration courts in Mississippi” holy hell
-
They intend for these people to never have a fair hearing, removing them from the courts, access to immigration lawyer and now interpreters. Be as awful as possible to these poor people because choosing to come to the border and do everything legal is somehow become a crime.

I spent THREE years riding around with FBI agents in hand-me-down cars chasing legit Russian spies. Our team was understaffed and underpriortized. We can’t find money to fight real national security, but we can to put kids in cages? What is wrong here?!
-
Nobody was getting rich from hunting Russians. But people are getting rich building and operating these concentration camps.
