Why not just convict people of the murders they commit, intend to commit, and agree with others to commit. Should a purse snatching be treated as murder, end in LWOP if the woman slips and falls? (real case). Couldn't manslaughter be enough in that case?

Manslaughter entails not choosing to commit a crime, doing something otherwise legal which reasonably would be expected to cause risk. Felony murder DOES entail choosing to commit a serious crime, for which you accept responsibility for any causal outcomes.

I have more problems with minimum sentence of LWOP, rather give judges some discretion to judge relative culpability, but with a sentencing range that says "this is serious" like 10 yrs to LWOP
