Asimov famously described /himself/ as a lech. Back in the day that was viewed as a kind of mischief; not "proper" behavior but harmless and fun. Times have changed, and we now give more thought to whether lechery is mutually welcomed.
yep Heinlein was formative to me in LOTS of ways. The "culture matters, skin color doesn't" came through loud and clear there, in Starship Troopers, and other places. Similar w gender.

Even the brief discussion of queerness as something not Horrible and Bad in SIASL was a message of hope to me years later. Imagine what it meant to the closeted people back then.
