/ Doing maintenance on the lawnmower. Drain oil, replace oil filter, replace fuel filter, replace oil, dismount one tire, break bead, replace, use starter-fluid-trick, remount tire, grease zerks...and find that one tire HAS no zerk fitting...

/ so take that tire off, get spare zerk from stores, investigate drilled hole ...and find that it was never tapped. Find that tap collection does not include 1/4-28. Go to store, buy tap.

/ Find that tap can't fit in space bc hole is deep inside the flanged hub. Cut tap to length, grind new flats on it...and realize that hole is too small. Drill new hole...and realize you F-ed up bc the predrill size for 1/4-28 is not 1/4 but is #3.

/ Start to MIG weld up oversized hole, realize hub is painted, file some paint off so grounding clamp can get contact, weld up hole, start to drill a new hole.

/ ...but because hole is so deep inside hub (and it NEEDs to be there because it connects to a chase inside the hole where grease resides) am coming in at extreme 45° angle, so center punch a dozen times, then use machinist center drill, then drill out in successive steps

/ Then tap. Then get zerk fitting...and realize that threaded portion of zerk is too short to bite into threads, given extreme 45° angle. GAHHHHHHHHH

/ Now googling "long thread zerk fittings"...without much success.

/ I guess I could always center drill a 1/4 x 28 bolt and then cut off the head and machine a zerk fitting from the material on the shaft. GAHHHHHHH

/ ...or I could just buy a new wheel. ...but that's $90. I wish I'd been competent enough to not end up in this situation. :-/
