In my typical over-think-things way, I'm designing a system to distribute water from the barn to 4 stalls, 2 run-in sheds, berry patch, wheat patch, pig wallow, pumpkin patch, and an orchard, using runs of buried PEX, multiple manifolds, brass ball valves, pressure reducers...

9/ The entire system will be disconnected around 15 Nov and drained. It will not operate when freezing weather is possible. https://twitter.com/Cloudswrest/status/996502138787262465 …

I should clarify. Run lines out to each cistern w/ a float valve. They automatically refill from there. The barn cistern would have to go inside to keep it free of ice, but I assume the other areas won't need water in winter.

in winter all animals return to the barn and we shut down / blow out all hoses and lines it gets down to 0°F all the time, and down to -10°F sometimes cisterns will freeze solid
