@Gormogons as somebody with LOTS of experience with technical folks providing testimony, my favorite advice is to tell them to be a computer.
Listen to what's being asked of you. Do EXACTLY that, LITERALLY.
Do not be a normal, helpful human. Do not assume or explain. /1
