Eh, I disagree w @Maggie_McNeill here.
I think it's actively good to debate all sorts of bad ideas.
Exposing bad arguments >>> de-platforming.
The worst thing for a bad idea is exposure.https://twitter.com/Maggie_McNeill/status/995732779122900992 …
Sure - I defend everyone's right to debate or not debate, engage in sexwork or not, own guns or not, etc. I think it's more useful to debate, but that doesn't create an obligation. The problem I see with "shun people, don't debate them" is that it doesn't influence bystanders.

...and the end result is tribe A refusing to speak on the topic of X with tribe B, and tribe B refusing to speak on the topic of X with tribe A. I've changed my opinion on MANY matters because I've witnessed debates and the "bad guys" had a better argument than the good guys. >>

The problem *I* see with debating people who LITERALLY want to deny self-ownership to others is that it legitimizes their completely morally-bankrupt position. It makes bystanders think the prohibitionists have a valid point. Like scientists debating flat-Earthers.

We can "debate" specific laws all you like, but the idea that adults don't own their own bodies is not up for debate.
