In the last few days I have dealt with a Dunkie employee who couldn't manage to understand that I wanted cream cheese on a bagel, and a Lowes employee who couldn't understand that I'm asking how far our truck delivery is IF ALL ITEMS ARE IN STOCK. 5/ Disagree; I think that most of the people earning $150/hr deliver insane amounts of value (else they wouldn't get that pay). They're smart, adaptable, deal with ambiguities, create plans (don't just follow them), nail down details. HARD to automate!https://twitter.com/SportsMus/status/994608917782106113 …

Heh, oh I could tell "horror stories from modern retail"... I recently worked some, to keep the lights on. Those computer systems are the worst of all possible worlds. The big bosses thinks that you can then hire a no-exp-high-schooler, cuz computer knows all. Cascade failure.

As a guess, she herself didna know the answer, and the system will only tell you something, if you have an item to look up. The only way to work, is to kludge things together from various systems... also, turnover is so high, there is NO tribal knowledge at all- :massive eyeroll:
