24/ Hey
@HvonSpakovsky, please check out the thread starting here - I used@AlexNowrasteh's own@CatoInstitute white paper to show that immigration is bad for small government. Please ask him the hard questions!https://twitter.com/MorlockP/status/991301654665408512 …Show this thread -
26/ I read the entire paper you cited. Which piece of data shows this? Certainly not tables 19 or 20. 2nd generation can vote and are still more left-wing than native Americans. Please tell me which page / graph?https://twitter.com/AlexNowrasteh/status/993511423157338112 …

27/ The charitable view is that Alex is smart enough to know that he's wrong, but part of his job is, like a press secretary, to confidently bull onwards. https://twitter.com/ed_grimly/status/993511797348069376 …

28/ We're all following that thread as well. ...and you haven't answered the question in that thread either. Which page / which graph shows that 2nd generation immigrants vote the same as natives? I've checked every single graph; I don't see it.https://twitter.com/AlexNowrasteh/status/993511874720301056 …

29/ Same! I was an open borders libertarian just a few years ago. I got persuaded by facts / underwhelmed by the weakness of the pro-immigration argument. I'd LIKE to switch back! This should be easy - just show me the data!https://twitter.com/thepiclord/status/993512305483755521 …

33/ By "the graphs that @bigrightbear posted" you means graphs 18 and 19, from your paper, righyt?https://twitter.com/AlexNowrasteh/status/993513690686197760 …

35/ if so, I already analyzed this graph a week ago and asked you a question, but you never respondedhttps://twitter.com/MorlockP/status/991307305084956672 …

36/ I am responding. See abovehttps://twitter.com/AlexNowrasteh/status/993514628880785408 …

37/ So here is my question: looking at figure 18 (the one you are calling our attention to), it looks like immigrants are 30% more likely to want much more government action to redistribute wealth. Am I misreading your graph?
Show this thread -
38/ You keep saying that, but your graphs and underlying data do not support that.https://twitter.com/AlexNowrasteh/status/993514970074755072 …

39/ "once immigrants become citizens (that means that they can vote) then their opinions are the same as natives." Which table in your paper shows that,
@AlexNowrasteh ? We've just demonstrated that it's not figure 18. Is it some other table?Show this thread -
40/ This should be super easy
@AlexNowrasteh - you wrote the paper. You know it inside and out. Just tell me which figure you're referring to, and I'll screen-cap it and post it here, and then you can laugh because you're right and I'm wrong.Show this thread -
41/ Which graph, specifically,
@AlexNowrasteh ? Please tell us, so that I can screencap it and we can all see how you were right and I was wrong the whole time.https://twitter.com/AlexNowrasteh/status/993515890028269570 …Show this thread -
42/ Was it figure 9,
@AlexNowrasteh ? No, probably not. That shows that immigrants are much more likely to want government to do more taxing and spending.pic.twitter.com/H4MUMBjELr

43/ Was it figure 12,
@AlexNowrasteh ? No, probably not. That shows that immigrants are much more likely to want government to spend more on welfare.pic.twitter.com/9kgGsvGCUA

44/ We've already established that it wasn't fig 18, which shows that immigrants want government to reduce the difference between rich and poor via regulation and redistribution.pic.twitter.com/rkIGM8iv3S

45/ ...and we know it's not fig20, which shows that immigrants want a stronger War on Drugs. So I'm left scratching my head.
@AlexNowrasteh keeps saying "look at the graph", but I can't figure out WHICH ONE.pic.twitter.com/S3wmkItOlf

@AlexNowrasteh , maybe get a few tips. https://twitter.com/_Emperor_Ming_/status/993516874267799553 …This Tweet is unavailable.Show this thread -
47/ BASED ON WHAT DATA,
@AlexNowrasteh ? Your whitepaper, your data. Just tell us what page and what graph. I'll screencap it, post it here, and then you'll have won.https://twitter.com/AlexNowrasteh/status/993517500385103873 …Show this thread -

51/ we don't IGNORE it,
@AlexNowrasteh - we are INTERESTED in it. That's why we keep asking for cites. What page in the white paper? What figure?https://twitter.com/AlexNowrasteh/status/993518379796443137 …Show this thread -
52/ Aha! OK, this is a valid answer. Thank you!https://twitter.com/AlexNowrasteh/status/993518615180861440 …

53/ The problem is that there's selection bias. What you're saying is that of the entire population of immigrants, slice X is comparable to natives, but slice Y is not. OK, great. Two objections: 1) it's incorrect.
