1/ A few years ago I spent 3 minutes at the lathe to turn a chunk of 2x4 into a nice little fid - a 5" long stick, 2" in diameter, pointed at one end, rounded at the other, and w a hole for hanging on a nail. I used it to make small holes for seeds and plants. It disappeared.

3/ This was the same farmhand who honestly thought that Hopi indians planted corn kernels 3-5 feet underground, on account of the dry desert conditions.
