2/ I live on a farm. We get huge amounts of veggies from our garden. We carefully menu plan, never let food spoil, compost EVERYTHING organic...and we generate perhaps ~1 lb/day of organic waste (composted) Egg shells, coffee grounds, celery tips, onion peels, pumpkin rinds..

4/ There are techniques you can use to push food waste to near 0. Chicken carcasses get roasted, used in stock, then bones composted. Carrot and celery offcuts: same. Menu plans carefully use leftover ingredients (pot roast on Monday uses half of X? Then Y next day uses rest)

5/ ...and EVEN AFTER this, there is organic waste. And you know what? THAT'S OK! Food is insanely cheap. The level of conservation we do is already at or past the threshold of making sense. 5 lbs of carrots costs $2.50 You "wasted" 1 lb of tips and tops and peels? 50 cents
