We’ve had this discussion before, but I do wonder if you’d have been happier living in an era when male clothing was more elaborate and and varied in its own right (As opposed to trying to gender-bend - No one thought dude in the court of Louis XVI was trying to be a woman.)

I had to think about this a few times before I grokked it (and bear in mind, I'm a very laissez-faire kind of guy). But I do get it. Consider Motley Crue. Or Bowie. They incorporated female style elements without becoming less masculine.

As a woman I agree. Way too much work. Even when I have to dress up for gigs I wear stuff I buy at Tractor Supply when I'm getting chicken feed. Wrangler has some good dressy yet comfy clothes.
